The Divine Idea of Olisticum

A master: Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov

Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov (1900–1986), born in Bulgaria and a disciple of Peter Deunov, taught in France for almost fifty years. His is a practical teaching: it does not ask you to believe, but to experience. At its centre is the idea that human beings are made for light and that every daily gesture, eating, breathing, washing, watching the sun rise, can become a conscious act.

From him I learned that one never touches only a body. One meets a whole person, with their story, their breath, their highest part.

The four elements

Earth, water, air and fire are not abstract symbols: they are the forces with which nature purifies and renews, and to which we can turn with gratitude.

• Earth receives and transforms what we entrust to it. In a treatment it is the weight of the hands, the stone, the grounding.
• Water washes and renews. It is the foot bath, the drops, the sea in front of Bibiland.
• Air brings lightness to thought. It is the breath, the incense, the sound.
• Fire is light itself: the sun, the candle, the warmth that melts.

The 4 Elements treatment was born from this vision, and this is why I chose a place, Bibiland, where all four are truly present.

The sun

Aïvanhov invited people to contemplate the rising sun as an image of the centre each of us carries within: something that gives light, warmth and life while asking for nothing. It is the attitude I seek before anyone who lies down on the table.

The gesture as a sacred act

Preparing the space, lighting a candle, washing the hands before and after, closing with a blessing: these are details, but they give the treatment an intention. This is why every Homabio session ends with a small rite of purification.

Traditions in dialogue

In my work traditional Chinese medicine, with its meridians and five phases, speaks with the Indian vision of the chakras and with the spirituality of Aïvanhov. I do not blend them: I listen to them as different languages describing the same landscape.
